 Can't sleep without it! , 2008-07-04
I love this white noise machine. I was used to sleeping with a fan on, but that gets a little chilly in the winter. So I went through the reviews on Amazon and this white noise machine had lots of positive reviews so I purchased it. I love that you can adjust the volume of the sound in two different ways until it's to your liking. It sounds just like a fan (which is what I was going for). I didn't want something that sounded like static or that made tropical rain forest sounds.
If you're looking for true white noise - this is the product for you! It creates a soothing sound and it also masks noise (if someone has a tv on in the other room or if you live in an apartment).

Great for Office, Baby, 2008-07-02
I bought this sound machine originally to cover noise in my office. I work in a community college and have a small office in a building with 9 other faculty offices. With students coming and going and conferences going on all day, the surrounding noise really distracted me from my work. This sound machine does a very good job of masking most noise to a background level without being distracting itself.
When our son was born, I decided to buy another for our home because I was afraid of the baby's cries waking our two-year old. What I quickly learned is that the sound was also very soothing to the baby! I had tried to put our son down for a nap many times, and he wasn't going for it unless held. When I turned on the sound machine, he quickly drifted off to sleep without crying--and in his own bed.
I recommend this machine for both uses. Very good for home and office!

The machine drowns out some noise, but I wish it was louder. The footsteps from my neighbors above me are very loud & I hoped to completely drown out the noise. The machine has decreased the noise some...I would say the noise level went from a 10 to a 7. :)

Lulls you to sleep in a few minutes, 2008-06-21
I've had trouble sleeping and was going to try herbal remedies, melatonin, and even an expensive drink that purportedly could make one sleepy. So I figured let's try this out since many seem to like it, and this could save me a lot of money down the road (doctor visits, herbal remedies, prescription, etc).
Normally, when I take short naps after work, it is very difficult for me to go to sleep before 3am as it messes up my internal clock. But after purchasing this, I've been able to take short naps, and still be able to sleep at night (no more waiting for 2-3 hours before falling asleep).
The noise blocks out ambient noise and after a few minutes, you're asleep. I've been using this for almost three weeks now, and it has worked every time!
Arguably the best $50 investment to date.

So long counting sheep, 2008-06-12
Since my fiance's car accident in January, he was having a very hard time getting a good night's sleep, even with dr prescribed sleeping pills. Since I bought him a white noise machine we have both been sleeping better (and so has the cat!!). We would recommend this product to anyone who would described themselves as a light sleeper. It doesn't block out every single sound, but it really helps lull you to sleep.
